3 1/2 Months

Eli has hit some milestones over the past few weeks...

He's weighing in at 19 lbs 2 oz, wearing size 12-18 month clothing, and size 2/3 diapers.  He's feeding 5 - 6 times a day (nursing twice and taking a bottle 3 - 4 times).  His "dream feed" bottle at 10 is formula and he is taking it really well.  Because of the logistics of returning to work and breastfeeding (and the strain it puts on me during the day and at night), we'll most likely start the new year with formula full time.

He rolled over during tummy time at Melissa's house.  We haven't seen his new trick in person, but can't wait!

He attended his first social event:  Jane Scarlett's 1st birthday party.  It was the cutest party ever complete with bobbing for apples, a pinata, yummy cupcakes, and homemade stew (Julie, Jane's mama, is a rock star!).  Eli wasn't able to participate in much, but had a great time checking out the other kiddos.

We caught his first giggle on camera!  I'm still trying to figure out how to add videos to this blog, but trust me, it is one of cutest things ever!  I keep watching the video and just giggle myself at how sweet his little angel face is!

He is sleeping 6+ hours at a time, on a pretty regular basis!

We aren't swaddling him anymore and thank goodness, that was really getting to be a pain in the butt!  We would wrestle with him to get him swaddled (because so many books say that you should swaddle for the first few months) and he would spend the next few hours trying to bust out of that straight jacket in his sleep.

He's sleeping in footsie pajamas, which is one of my FAVORITE things about babies.  He looks so precious and cuddly in them.

He can keep his head up when you hold him.  Every now and then he rears back like a cowboy riding a bull, but he's usually pretty sturdy when you hold him.

He smiles ALL the time.  He loves it when you sing to him, it makes him smile huge, so we listen to children folk music on Payton's phone in the mornings while we get ready and sing.  He usually makes lots of noises like he's trying to sing along.  Sometimes I'll be doing something and look over at him and catch him with the biggest smile on his face just watching me or Payton.

He is so alert these days and watches everything!  He loves the mirror and looking at himself.  Just this past weekend he really started to discover his tongue and sticks it out all the time.  He also started looking down at his hands too, like "Hey, where did these come from".  We had a long drive the other day and I put "Freddie the Firefly" (not to be confused with "Edward the Elephant", "Frank the Frog", or "Max the Monkey") in his lap and he just held on to him the entire time.
